Heavenly White Horses
By‘The Lipizzaner’ made with Conté crayons on acid-free black paper (honeycomb structure). Sometimes I challenge myself by using a medium that I don’t really prefer :). I do this because I know I learn from it and I love to surprise myself with an unexpected result. And there is another thing I loved about drawing this one. With water-colour I never use white (white doesn’t exist in water-colour, officially). So with this drawing the sheet is black and I had to use almost only white. That does something to the brain :).
Anyway, I am really happy with the result. I hope you are too!

Detail mouth – Don’t you just love horse’s soft mouths?
The Lipizzaner, approximately 22 x 28 cm (without passe partout).

Another beautiful piece. I find it hard to believe that it is done with crayon! Wow. 🙂
Thank you! It is, and it’s actually the first attempt with crayon on black paper. I am happy it worked out so well.
Really! Great first attempt!
I love the expression on the horse’s face. Has a look of wonder. 🙂
